Head lice is one of the
most unpleasant things to have and a lot of people are not
knowledgeable about lice, so they do not know exactly what
to look for – in this article, we will explore some of the
frequently asked questions when it comes to head lice.
Do I need to report head lice? This question is at the top
of the list and the answer is no, you do not. Although, it
would help if you let the school nurse, other parents of
your child’s friends and the rest of your family that may
have been in recent contact with your child about your
child’s head lice. This will ensure that there will not be a
break out in your kid’s school or within your family.
Does a head louse spread disease? This is another question
that is among the first that people will ask and honestly,
the answer is no. There is absolutely no way that head lice
can spread disease, it is more annoying than anything. The
first sign of head lice is itchiness and then if your child
is scratching excessively, this can cause an infection, but
there is no disease that can be spread.
Headphones, do they spread head lice? Mostly, head lice is
spread through a direct connection of hair-to-hair or
head-to-head and head lice will probably have a hard time
holding onto any plastic pieces, as their feet are generally
designed to hang onto human hair. There is still a risk
though, so if you are sharing headphones, wipe them off with
rubbing alcohol.
Can swimming spread head lice? The answer to this is it can,
but the risk is very small. Data has shown that head lice
can absolutely survive under water, but they tend to hang
onto their host when submerged under the water. The more
likely way to spread head lice when it comes to swimming is
the towel. Children should definitely not share any towels,
especially when the child has been diagnosed with head lice.

the spreading of head lice – the danger of your child
getting head lice could be high if you allow them to share
towels, clothing and/or brushes with an infected child, the
key is monitor your kid and you should be fine.
