Have Lice? You need to get treated
Head lice is one of the
most disgusting and terrible parasites in the world and if
you happen to get head lice, it is absolutely significant
that you get it treated as soon as possible.
As you may know, head lice are very contagious and therefore
any contact with someone that has been diagnosed with head
lice could mean that you have it. When you are treating head
lice you may notice that there are a variety of treatments
available, so you may be confused as to which one is the
best to kill head lice.
Pyrethrins and Permethrin lotion are two of the best
over-the-counter head lice treatments you can get.
Pryethrins are naturally occurring extracts from a
chrysanthemum flower. This is a safe, effective and mostly
all natural way to treat head lice. The only problem with
this treatment is that it does fail sometimes and
retreatment in ten days is usually recommended. With the
permethrin lotion, nick named ‘Nix” is a synthetic
pyrethriod similar to the naturally occurring pyrethrins.
This lotion is FDA approved and if you use it as directed it
will kill live head lice. The problem with this treatment is
that it does not kill unhatched nits until the second
treatment.
Some prescribed head lice treatments include Malathion
lotion and lindane shampoo. These two treatments tend to be
extremely strong and are great to kill all of your head
lice, including the eggs. While the Lindane shampoo is not
recommended as a first-line therapy, it is definitely one of
the strongest head lice treatments available. Malathion
lotion is just as effective as Lindane shampoo it just tamer
and can be used on children, while the Lindane shampoo is
mainly for adults.
As you can see, there are many different treatments for head
lice available, it is all about your preference and how
quickly you are looking to get rid of the infestation of
head lice. The over-the-counter treatments are perfect if
you do not want to go to the doctor for a prescription, but
if you have a deep infestation of head lice, it is
recommended that you seek medical attention and get a
prescription for treatment.
Now that you have seen all the treatments, everything from
pyrethrins, permethrin lotion, lindane shampoo and malathion
lotion and their advantages and disadvantages, it is your
choice on which treatment to use for your head lice.
