Head Lice Treatment
By David Dorf
Head lice harassed the Pharaohs of ancient Egypt, so says ancient Egyptian history. In fact, lice had bothered the sapiens from the days the humanoids roamed the jungles in search of food and shelter. However, in the case of humans at least, the lice problem it seems is at last solved.
School going girls, it has been observed, suffer most from head lice, but alas, the sure fire method of eradicating them at one go does not seem to be practicable with them. The obvious solution involves shaving the whole head, however this a girl of 12 or 14 would never agree to. Otherwise, this would have solved the problem in the best possible way since shaving the head gives the lice very little or no grip to stay attached to the head. But for all practical reasons, this is not required because this would be opting for a too dramatic measure. The condition is not that desperate because medical head lice treatment is available and it is possible.
So What Are The Other Head Lice Treatment Options
Use of natural solutions, too are rather unreliable. That is because there are many such solutions that make tall claims but seldom deliver the results. And so, their effectiveness is always questioned. Also, very few research work and studies have been carried out on these natural remedies and therefore modern practitioners are always very eager to challenge them. Conventional medicine also questions about the side effects of such remedies. But of course, there are a few exceptions. There are many incidents where sufferers report of natural remedies using which they were able to overcome the issue.
So, taking the matter up in one's own hand seems to be a good solution. Combing the hair (also called nitpicking) with a special comb is undoubtedly the most effective method for head lice removal. A thorough removal of lice may take anything up to ten days of uninterrupted combing.
Human head lice can also be eliminated by a shampoo containing a chemical called Permatherin or Pyretherin or Lindane (1%). The shampoo should be left to remain on the head for more than 4 hours so that the all the lice are destroyed.
Alternative Head Lice Treatment
Apart from the traditional head lice treatments, there are other alternative methods too to get rid of the problem such as the shampoo based on the Indian Neem seed extracts that is highly potent and is devoid of any side effect as well.
Then there is also the essential oil based shampoo, and the two parts tea tree oil that is mixed with 1 part peppermint oil. The mixture is evenly spread over the head every two days over a period of 8 days at the end of which the head will be free from lice.
Natural treatments for head lice are becoming popular, no matter what the conventional medical experts might say. And they are delivering results too.
