Steps to Prevent Lice
It seems pretty obvious
that most people know what head lice is and how to prevent
it, but what they do not know is all the ways that your
child can get it and the steps to prevent head lice, in this
article we will outline those steps of prevention.
It is mostly known that head lice are extremely contiguous
but most parents have absolutely no idea how many different
ways head lice can be transferred from one head to another.
For instance, if your child’s head bumps into another
child’s head that has head lice; your child could develop
lice. Monitoring their sports activities, especially those
that do not require a helmet is definitely something you
should start doing.
Another example of your child catching head lice is if they
frequently share their items with other kids. This is
especially true when it comes to grooming supplies such as
combs and brushes. These items are usually shared with close
friends and even if your girl or boy has a best friend, you
will need to keep an eye out and educate them on not sharing
their items. Clothing, hats, scarves and coats are a few
more items that head lice can hook onto, so not sharing
those as well would be a good idea.
Finally, if you girl or boy does end up getting head lice,
it is more of an annoyance to them than anything. A head
louse does not spread disease and you will not have to worry
about them getting sick from head lice – if you do happen to
find head lice, you will need to take the proper steps to
treat it right away.
Treatment for head lice varies, it all depends on exactly
which way you want to go – there are creams, lotions,
shampoos and conditioners all that treat head lice. One of
the first signs of head lice is the nits or lice eggs – if
you see small white, brown or tan spots on your child’s head
and they do not come off with shaking, then that is the
first sign of head lice. Head lice looks a lot like
dandruff, so be sure that you are diagnosing head lice
correctly and not just seeing dandruff.
Now that you see all of the steps of prevent (not sharing
and monitoring sport activities), and the first signs of
head lice, you should have no problems preventing your child
from getting head lice!
